Hi, I'm Shira, and I am a happily married Rules girl and former Rules breaker.
From junior high through college several years ago, I was always trying to figure out the whole dating thing and what I was supposed to do and not do. Boy, was I confused! Questions like the one below rolled around in my mind and I just didn't have a clue. This was all before The Rules and He's Just Not That Into You...by the way, a movie you definitely want to see! I was so mixed...dilemmas like this drove me crazy.
Do I let the guy open the door for me or open it myself?
Do I let him pay for the date or do I split the check?
When he gives me his number and casually says, "call me," do I call or throw the number in the garbage?
And on and on.
I'm sure you have your own questions!
Personally, I never liked calling a guy. It was really uncomfortable. So I guess I was a Rules girl in the making!
In college, a friend and I read The Rules (TR) and I watched in fascination as she applied them to her dating life -- not only did she get back her ex-boyfriend, but he then married her! Ok, The Rules was for me!
I slowly began to infiltrate TR into my life until they became a way of life. Of course, I broke a few here but I kept going back to The Rules.
For me, it's about doing them really strictly and then letting go of results. It's about retaining some dignity and self-respect. Today I understand that TR are about having RESPECT FOR MEN. It's spoiling and disrespecting a man when you make the first moves or initiate a date. While some men may be flattered AT FIRST, it quickly gets old and soon you are annoying them or worse - scaring them! When you do TR, you are saying you trust the man to do his part. Men are neither shy nor helpless. They certainly don't need your help to ask you out! My husband didn't!
Today, thanks to TR and TR for Online Dating, I am married to the man of my dreams.
After working extensively with Ellen and Sherrie in consultations (phone and email), I dated successfully, got engaged, and married my Mr. Right. I would love to share my Rules dating secrets and strategies with you so you meet and marry the man of your dreams as well!
